My name is Brenda Zendejas. My husband, Adolfo and I are proud parents of two young boys who attend our public schools at Alum Rock School District.
As a parent and Resource Specialist for Hubbard Elementary School, I saw there were opportunities to further improve educational programs for our students. I decided to become a parent representative on the School Site Council to share to my ideas. This first-hand experience of giving input on the construction of school budgets and utilization of school resources helped me realized the importance of being involve. I wanted to have an even bigger positive impact at our District and I was recommended to join the District Advisory Committee where inputs will have District wide implications. Upon joining the committee, I received Trustee training and District budget training to understand how resources are allocated and financial decisions are made. Where I hoped to shared my ideas, I witnessed and protested the current School Board’s misuse of taxpayer money, and woeful commitment to quality education and safe school facilities.
IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE!
I running for Alum Rock Union Elementary School District Board of Trustee to strengthen the District’s commitment to 21st century science, engineering, math, reading, and writing curriculum. We need to repair hazardous school facilities to provide safe learning environments for students to concentrate on preparing for high school, college and career development. I will hold monthly community dialogue meetings to listen to the needs of our parents, neighbors, and keep District decisions transparent.
I want to restore the trust between parents, community members, and our board members. I want to make sure that all children are represented and receive quality education. We need to support our superintendent, teachers, principals, and staff who do a great job because they deserve it.
I will be a School District Trustee who brings practical expertise, passion, accountability and transparency to deliver a better education to our next generation.
Please join parents, teachers, students, youth advocates, and community leaders in supporting my candidacy. I am here to say enough is enough. We need to make sure the money from taxpayers to improve our schools is going to better learning environments for our students. I would be honored to have your vote.
